WELCOME TO MRS. MORGAN'S 3RD GRADE CLASS!!!
I am SO excited about our new school year and the opportunity to share with you what is happening in our classroom and at our school. We will meet for the first time at "Meet the Teacher" on Tuesday, August 10th at La Vega Elementary! The tabs to the right called Photo Album, Links, Posts, Socks the Sock Monkey, and GT News will provide you with even more information, which I will update throughout the school year. Photo Album contains several pictures of my family. Posts will take you to some great websites like BrainPop, Storyline On Line, and a Virtual Tour of the White House. Socks the Sock Monkey details a fun writing activity, and GT News is for the GT students in our classroom. School Status is my favorite way to communicate with student families. Messages are sent directly to your cell phone. I am looking forward to working with all of you this school year. I am bubbling with excitement to meet you! Parents, students, and teachers all working together is a powerful combination which contributes to academic achievement. Let's make this year a GREAT year of learning!
ABOUT THE TEACHER
I have been an elementary school teacher for 23 years! That's a long time! I have been a 3rd grade teacher at La Vega Elementary School since 2012 and I love being a Pirate! I was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan. I attended Michigan State University and earned a bachelor's degree in Communications. To warm up after all those cold winters up north, I went south and earned my Master's degree in Public Administration at the University of Texas at Austin. A life-long learner, I also earned certification in elementary and gifted education at Baylor University. I am married and have four children. We are a family of bears, frogs, tigers and longhorns! Two of my children are Baylor graduates, one graduated from Texas Christian University and now is a UT Medical Student. Our fourth child just graduated from Trinity University and has begun working on a Master's degree at Baylor. I enjoy travel and recently visited Arizona, where I rode a mule along the edge of the Grand Canyon. I also toured Monument Valley on the Navajo Indian Reservation, where many old western movies were filmed. I also love dogs. So in my spare time I take in abandoned dogs and try to find loving homes for them. Sometimes I become too attached and end up adopting the dogs myself. I also enjoy cooking and eating unusual foods, like snails and Navajo tacos. I look forward to learning all about you!
